Cotic BFeMAX

Cotic BFeMAX

More one of a number of smaller British brands , which builds its range on steel and titanium frames . They started production two decades ago and, like the slightly better-known Stanton, they also divide their production into British and Taiwanese. The brand is still owned by the founder and has been operating in the same location since day one, in the Peak District, where some of the profits they make from bike manufacturing are also put back into the local cycling scene. They produce frames in small numbers, but you can still see quite a few of them around, although they are still a rarity on Slovenian cycle routes.

About the Cotic BFeMAX bike

BFeMAX? True, the model names could be a little less “complicated,” it is a steel front suspension bike designed for more aggressive riding. It is prepared for suspension forks with 120 and up to 160 millimeters of travel. It rolls on 29-inch wheels. The frame offers enough space for tires up to 2.6 inches wide , which can help somewhat with damping the rear, unsprung part. Thanks to the modern geometry, slack fork angle and steep seat tube angle, it is excellent on both climbs and descents. It is on the latter that it comes to life and shows its true character.

The Cotic BFeMAX frame was assembled with the following components:

  • MRP Ribbon Air fork, 150 mm
  • Hope headset and seatpost clamp
  • Hope brake rotors
  • Hope PRO 4 hubs
  • DT Swiss rims
  • Onza Porcupine tires
  • Steering column and handlebar Title
  • PNW Loam Submersible Seatpost
  • Shimano XT, 1×11 drivetrain
  • Sram Stylo crankset
  • MRP chain guide
  • Hayes Dominion A4 brakes

For whom?

It would be very easy to be BFeMAX that one mountain bike for everyone . It is capable enough for most descents, comfortable and efficient on climbs and longer tours. Since it does not have a rear shock absorber, services are also slightly more affordable, but this is noticeable on the knees. Loose Cycles recommends it for cyclists who often spend several hours on their bike together and like to discover new terrain on longer tours regardless of the technical complexity of the descents.
